This study assesses the impact that BSLB has had, and will have on the Nova Scotia forest industry, if the regulations were to change in the province. Impacts must be determined with respect to the forest industry as well as landowners including: Federal crown, Provincial crown, industrial private, and small private (urban and rural).

This study informs policy-makers and the public about the contribution of the forest industry to the Nova Scotia and Canadian economies. In addition, a competitive gap analysis illustrates the industry�s position relative to competing jurisdictions.

This study estimates the economic impact arising from the operation of Northern Pulp and its impacts related to the sawmill industry in Nova Scotia. This includes the direct impact of the mills, indirect impacts arising from the supply of goods and services that support mill operations (including wood supply), and the induced impact arising from the spending of incomes earned in direct and indirect activities.

This study provides an assessment of the forest biomass market within Nova Scotia, and the potential effect on that market of alternative wood use. The study examines effects that purchases of biomass will have on current and future markets for wood fibre, the logistics of biomass harvest and delivery, and pricing structure of biomass in Nova Scotia.

This project provides the College with information that will enable it to assess how well its current programs and courses are meeting the present and future needs of those sectors that are linked to the province�s �ocean economy�. In doing so it identifies opportunities for the College to better align its offerings to meet industry demand for new training and skills that will support this growing and evolving component of Nova Scotia�s economy. 

This study informs decision-makers and the public about the role played by and impact of ports in the Atlantic Provinces� economy. The study measures the economic impact of individual ports and the shipping industry; identifies and quantifies the role of the port in economic growth and development, with a focus on the linkages between shipping/port activity and local industry; provides a measure of each port�s activity, importance and purpose; identifies and analyzes policy issues related to port financial viability and long-term sustainability, and identify strategic issues facing each port and the impact on local communities; and makes recommendations to IMPAC and port authorities on regional and community policy solutions, business and community strategies and best practices to strengthen the economic impact of shipping and marine ports.
