Update the 2012 Export Value of Nova Scotia Universities Study

Economic Impact
This study estimates the economic impact of Atlantic Canada's 17 universities. Starting from data on direct economic activity by each university, the study estimates measures of direct and spin-off income and employment. In addition, the study examines the broad economic influence of the universities in terms of 1) increased economic activity resulting from sector investments over the past five years; 2) benchmarking expected impact of future investments; 3) strategies to enhance the role of universities in municipal, regional and provincial economic development; and 4) assessing the universities' influence in the economy and broader community.

A comprehensive economic impact study of NAIT was undertaken previously and newer data is now available for many components of the work. In particular the program enrollments, fees, budgets, Statistics Canada data, and economic modeling offer more current information. Maintaining the integrity and accuracy of key statistics from the analysis is important for NAIT ongoing communications to a wide variety of audiences. This study updates the five key statistics produced from the original comprehensive analysis of economic impacts resulting from NAIT.

Economic Impact Assessment: University of New Brunswick

This study produces a comprehensive analysis of economic impacts associated with UNB. The study estimates the economic impact of UNB, split according to the two main campuses, using a combination of a standard economic impact analysis as well as current research linkages between higher education and socioeconomic outcomes. A conservative estimate of return on investment to the Province was also provided.
